The SACNAS team at USC is committed to make an impact on our community. For this reason in 2019, we initiated the "SACNAS@USC Community College Research Scholarship" to do funded research at USC during one summer.
The Scholarship
SACNAS@USC is offering an in-person scholarship opportunity for ONE community college students. All undergraduate students are welcome on our 8-week program. The research commitment is part time for a 8 week period of time between the months of June and July 2023.
Selected students will participate in the following weekly activities: - Active involvement in professional development workshops. - Meet with their mentors to discuss scientific research. - Develop a scientific project in a research lab at USC. - Submit a progress report At the end of the program, students will present the scientific research they learned during the summer. Students that fulfill these requirements will receive a certificate of participation.
Elegibility
Be enrolled in a community college as of Spring 2023
Able to commute to and from USC during the summer (A TAP Card will be provided).
Must have completed one laboratory class in the discipline of the applicant’s research interest (biology, physics, chemistry, etc.)
Application Requirements
Submit your application online:
Unofficial transcript.
One letter of recommendation (Ask for these early).
A one-page essay (800 word limit) describing your personal academic or career goals and answering the following question: How would being awarded this scholarship help you achieve these goals?
Describe your most fulfilling community outreach experience. (500 word limit)
